Pick Lottery Numbers: A Few Facts About Mega Lotteries

  • Author: Julianne Stiner

  • Date: Mar 18,2010

A lottery is a type of gambling in which a series of numbers are picked at random and prizes awarded based on the matching of the numbers by purchasers. Many systems to enable people to pick lottery numbers that will win have been published over the years. It is also true because the big lotteries are run with incredible controls to prevent fraud, no system of choosing numbers can be said to be perfectly successful.

In has only been in the last half century that lotteries have been popular. Prior to that, lotteries were not allowed legally in many jurisdictions, including the U. S. In the sixties, state governments recognized that legalizing lotteries could provide a huge source for increasing state revenues. In 1965, New Hampshire approved a state-run lottery, the first in the United States. Twenty years later, the first regional lottery was approved. Currently 42 states have legal state lotteries. Many other countries have national lotteries, but America has no lottery at the highest level.

Even though the odds of winning even the most typical 6 of 49 lottery numbers are very low, many people still choose to play each time there is an opportunity to pick numbers. As the jackpots grow, the number of players increases significantly. To date, the largest winning jackpot occurred in March, 2007 with two winners from the United States. This jackpot was set at $390 million.

Two main payout styles are in practice in the United States. Winners may choose to take their earnings in a lump sum or spread over a period of twenty to forty years. In some instances, lump sum payment is not an option.

The actual amount of the winning ticket that is received by the lottery winner will vary according to the revenue collected and the payout style. The tax hit will cause the amount to vary as well. Most winners with a lump sum payout will only collect about one-third of the stated win. Annuities are spread over longer periods, but the taxes still take a sizable chunk of the winnings each year.

State lotteries often have a scratch-off card lottery system that is intended to raise revenues for operation of the state government. The bulk of states joined the approval roll call during the 1960s and 1970s. These scratch off tickets are very popular with those who buy, since those who win know immediately. Prizes for the tickets are much smaller, sometimes just the granting of a free ticket.

People pick lottery numbers for many reasons. For some it is recreational. For others it is the dream of what they would do with the winnings. Most will tell you about the things they would do differently from their current life situation.

Today a lot of people play the lottery to win big money, but do you know how to Pick Lottery Numbers? tons of people randomly choose numbers, but do you know where to look to get tips for your numbers you should pick? Look online for more information. Http://www.picklotterywinningnumbers.com

Stay Away From Gambling

  • Author: Cressida Matthew
  • Date: Mar 16,2010

Problem gambling can strain your relationships; interfere with responsibilities at home and work, and lead to financial catastrophe. You may even do things you never thought you would, like stealing to get money to gamble or take money meant for your children.

As defined by American Psychiatric Association, pathological gambling is an impulse control disorder that is a chronic and progressive mental illness. Extreme cases of problem gambling may cross over into the realm of mental disorders. Pathological gambling was recognized as a psychiatric disorder in the DSM-III, but the criteria were significantly reworked based on large-scale studies and statistical methods for the DSM-IV.

Gambling addiction, also known as compulsive gambling, is a type of impulse-control disorder. Compulsive gamblers can’t control the impulse to gamble, even when they know their gambling is hurting themselves or their loved ones. Gambling is all they can think about and all they want to do, no matter the consequences. Compulsive gamblers keep gambling whether they’re up or down, broke or flush, happy or depressed. Even when they know the odds are against them, even when they can’t afford to lose, people with a gambling addiction can’t “stay off the bet.”

Problem gamblers typically deny or minimize the problem. It is sometimes referred to as the “hidden illness” because there are no obvious physical signs or symptoms like there are in drug or alcohol addiction. Gamblers take extreme steps to hide their gambling. For example, problem gamblers often withdraw from their loved ones, sneak around, and lie about where they’ve been and what they’ve been up to.

Available research indicates that problem gambling is an internal tendency, and that problem gamblers will tend to risk money on whatever game is available, rather than a particular game being available inducing problem gambling in otherwise “normal” individuals.

Research has also indicated that problem gamblers tend to risk money on fast-paced games. Therefore a problem gambler is much more likely to lose a lot of money on poker or slot machines, where rounds end quickly and there is a constant temptation to play again or increase bets, as opposed to a state lottery where the gambler must wait until the next drawing to see results.

Unlike other people, gamblers fail to recognize that gambling puts them at risk of losing all of these attributes and that gambling is a random process, where the odds are stacked against them, so they are more likely to lose than to win. Money is central to the experience of gambling. Gambling addicts, as with other people, attach many different positive attributes to money, such as power, comfort, security and freedom. Furthermore, when they do win, people with gambling addictions tend to gamble away their winnings quickly.

One of the giant leaps in treatment is realizing you have a problem with gambling. It takes tremendous strength and courage to own up to this, especially if you have lost a lot of money and strained or broken relationships along the way.

Why Gamble Your Life?

  • Author: Julie Thomas

  • Date: Mar 15,2010

Gambling ,or gaming is betting money on any game or event. It takes a variety of forms, from nickel-and-dime poker to state-sponsored lotteries. Different forms of gambling are legal in different parts of the United States and many other parts of the world like Macau.

Gambling is the wagering of money or something of material value on an event with an uncertain outcome with the primary intent of winning additional money and/or material goods. Typically, the outcome of the wager is evident within a short period. It has its own charm and its own dangers.

Just look at the way the whole of Las Vegas is run. Gambling can be a form of entertainment if handled with the right attitude. On other hands, you have to accept the fact that you cannot force a winning outcome and you cannot win every time. t is also referred to as a sport sometimes. With all the glamor and glitz associated it has assumed mammoth proportions today as an entertainment industry. A good approach is to aim to win but to also be prepared to lose – and lose only the amount you planned to risk on that day.

But sadly, gambling also has its ugly face. Reinforcement schedules may also make gamblers persist in gambling even after repeated losses. Studies show that though many people participate in gambling as a form of recreation or even as a means to gain an income, gambling, like any behavior which involves variation in brain chemistry, can become a psychologically addictive and harmful behavior in some people.

In fact, over the past five years addictions to gambling have grown at an accelerated rate. Not only adults, but teenagers are gambling without realizing the consequences. Most states in the USA including Connecticut have created agreements with Indian reservations for self gain. The states are now realizing the negative impact the Indian casino reservations are having on their taxpayers .Gambling is a silent addiction. Most people can go years without anyone ever discovering that they gambled. Besides the local Casino, people can now even gamble online.

Growing up in such a situation leads to improper emotional development and increased risk of falling prey to problem gambling behavior. As debts build up people turn to other sources of money such as theft, or the sale of drugs. A lot of this pressure comes from bookies or loan sharks that people rely on for capital to gamble with. Also, a teenager that does not receive treatment for pathological gambling when in their desperation phase is likely to contemplate suicide.

As with all the other addictions such as with food, alcohol and others, serious results for the gambler and his or her surroundings encompass the addiction. There are 20% of teenagers that are pathological gamblers do consider suicide. Abuse is also common in homes where pathological gambling is present. Gambling addiction doesn’t end with the recurrence of constantly having to play.

In order to bring the gambler to an awareness of the problem and a readiness to admit addiction. The addiction could also lead to disturbances in the money and emotional fields. And worse of all it could lead to losing friends, jobs, estranging family and in some cases suicide. In addition feelings of angst, disturbances in relationships and employment negligence could ensue. To begin treatment for the gambling addiction, the gambler must first confess that he indeed is addicted.

How To Play Poker With Texas Holdem

  • Author: Poker Suzie

Poker is a game that is becoming more and more both online and offline in all of its different forms. There are many different types of poker games that you can play which carry the same sort of basic principles, but for the purpose of this article we are going to focus on how the game of texas holdem works. Here is a brief explanation of how to play poker in this form.

When it comes to playing no limit holdem there can be as little as two people playing heads up or thousands playing in a single tournament over hundreds of different tables. On a single table you are not going to get more than ten players and the game will start when the players are all ready to go. One card will be dealt in order to find the highest card. The highest card will be then put as the ‘button’ for the first hand and this represents the position of the dealer from where the cards are dealt.

The person to the immediate left of the button will put down the small blind and then the person to their left will offer up the big blind. These blinds refer to a small amount of money or chips that need to be input before each blind is dealt out. They are intended to make sure that people are actually required to bet in order to get a pot going.

The cards will then be dealt out from the left of the button going clockwise until all players have been given two cards. The aim of the same is not to show these to anyone and to keep their identity secret so that other players have to try to guess what cards you might have as the hand progresses.

The first person to make the bet will be the person to the left of the big blind. They will have to call at leas the level of the big blind if they are wanting to play in the hand but they can raise to any value that they wish above being double that of the big blind.

The betting will continue round the table until everyone has made their bet. After this the ‘flop’ will come down and that consists of three cards from the pack facing up for all to see. After this the player closest to the left of the dealer who is still in the game will make their bet and another round will ensue. After this round a further card known as the ‘turn’ will then come down.

After the turn a further betting round happens and then a final card called ‘the river’ is dealt out by the dealer. After the river each player will have all of the cards they can get in order to make their best hand using a maximum of five of the seven cards. A final round of betting will then happen with anyone left in the game and then the winner will take the pot before another hand begins.

And that is basically how a hand of poker is played in texas holdem.
